After setting up this blog, which WordPress has made so easy, I got to thinking about other good setups. In particular, Inno Setup. This is a simple, script-based installer that is very powerful (and free). You may have seen it in action if you’ve installed any of my programs. For most distributions, it’s as good (or better) then the main-stream installers.

Now, why can’t I find a good text editor?

    I suggest you try:

    Editor2
(my favorite, because it activates weblinks; ansi & unicode freeware versions included with xplorer2)
    http://www.netez.com/2xExplorer

    MetaPad
    (solid & stable, no frills)
    http://www.liquidninja.com/metapad/

    Notepad2
    (based on Scintilla, development stoped)

Thanks for your great work with Nutshell.

  2. Hi Peter,

I found your site while exploring the web for RSS ticker type solutions. I look forward to trying out yours.

Talking about good text editors: which ones have you tried? What would YOU define as a good text editor? What should it be capable of doing? Do you have specific system like open-source, file size, syntax highlighting etc?

    Cheers,

    Marjolein

I can’t believe it took me so long to find your reader. The lack of press you get for it is truly shameful, as is the lack of skinning for it.

It is absolutely magnificent in layout and setup. I love it.

    Thought *someone* should tell you.

    Good job.

I did find a good text reader after…. PSPad. It’s freeware, and it’s got everything I need. Code highlighting, HTML formatting, HEX editing… all good stuff.
